Jefferson Township Board Of Education - Jefferson, NJ

Custom Designing & Engineering provided a feasibility study for the conversion of the decommissioned Drummond School into the new Board of Education Offices and Meeting Hall. The report outlined several design alternatives with initial cost and projected operational cost estimates. CD&E engineered an entirely new heating and cooling system for the 13,700 square foot facility utilizing high efficiency R-410A refrigerant rooftop units. The renovation also included updating the existing toilet rooms and the reconfiguration of the existing classrooms into new office space.

Bayberry & Valley View Schools - Watchung, NJ

Custom Designing & Engineering designed the renovations to the schools' existing toilet facilities. In accordance with the district's water conservation efforts, the design included the use of touchless faucets, low flush toilets, and cartridge-free waterless urinals. The design also included more efficient lighting and upgrades to the existing HVAC. The conservation measures used on this project are to serve as the basis for future renovations in the district.

Ogdensburg School - Ogdensburg, NJ

Custom Designing & Engineering designed the replacement of two existing oil fired steam boilers in the school’s main steam distribution plant.

Novo Plaza - Upper Freehold Township, NJ

Custom Designing & Engineering designed the shell building MEP services for the 16,800 square foot retail building. Each tenant space is served by high efficiency, energy star rated R-410A rooftop units. The exterior and site lighting was designed utilizing high efficiency LED lighting. The design intent was to incorporate high efficiency elements to lower the operational costs of the shell building and the tenant spaces.

Newton Firehouse #1 - Newton, NJ

Custom Designing & Engineering designed an MEP upgrade on the 6,720 square foot firehouse based on an energy audit performed by the township. The upgrades included replacing the existing rooftop unit to a higher efficiency R-410A rooftop unit, replacing existing T12 lighting fixtures with more energy efficient T8 fixtures, and replacing existing plumbing fixtures with new low flush fixtures. With these upgrades, the municipal building will see a substantial utilities cost saving (as projected by the town's energy audit). The project also included design for a new backup generator sized to keep the entire building operational in the case of a power outage.

YMCA - West Essex, NJ

Custom Designing & Engineering designed the renovation of the club’s existing lobby, cardio room, strive/weight room, and child watch facility. The HVAC design included measures to increase the amount of fresh air delivered to the spaces for improved indoor air quality and occupant comfort. New high efficiency lighting was specified throughout the renovated areas.

Meadow Lakes Retirement Facility - Hightstown, NJ

Custom Designing & Engineering designed the new laundry room, salon, conference room, and offices for this 60 bed retirement facility. The MEP design incorporated the latest innovative techniques for indoor air quality and energy efficiency. The renovation included the use of high efficiency R-410A rooftop units and T5 high efficiency lighting.

Mama Su's Grill & Steam - Bayside, NY

Custom Designing & Engineering designed the fit out of the 2,950 square foot restaurant in Bayside, NY. The restaurant includes a 70 seat dining area with open (exhibit) kitchen and toilet rooms on the first floor, with preparation kitchen, dishwashing, and storage in the cellar. The MEP design included specification of the kitchen exhaust and make up air equipment. The heating and cooling equipment was design with R-410A refrigerant.

New Jersey Heart - Edison, NJ

Custom Designing & Engineering designed the fit out for the 4,500 square foot cardiologist’s office in Edison, NJ. The office includes a stress/echo evaluation room, dexa scan room, eight exam rooms, three private offices, toilet rooms, and a break room. The MEP design involved combining one large tenant space with portions of three adjacent tenant spaces into the newly renovated medical office facility. One year later, CD&E was invited back to engineer the further expansion into the adjacent tenant space for a new sleep observation facility.

Harding Township Middle School - New Verona, NJ

Custom Designing & Engineering designed a renovation to approximately 610 square feet of the school's existing toilet rooms for ADA compliance. The project also included renovations of the toilet rooms' HVAC equipment.

Custom Designing & Engineering designs retail tenant fit outs, new store construction, and renovation projects for over 30 major retailers nationwide, including flagship stores in New York City. Cost effective retail designs in a timely fashion are an everyday part of CD&E.
